Has anyone kept Guppies and Platies with Congo Tetras? Are Congo Tetras on the "No go" list?

Its a 125g. I was going to make the congo tetras my centerpiece fish and get a group of 3 males and 7 females.

Sorry, should have known that from your other posts

Congos are my "dream" tetra, but I'll probably never have a big enough tank to keep them, sadly.

They're peaceful and good tanks mates for many FW fish, as most tetras are.

If it were me, in a tank that size, I'd do 5 males, 8-10 females. To start.

Guppies and platys are livebearers, breed very easily, and can (over time) overwhelm a tank with their sheer numbers, many times. The congos may prey on the fry, but not sure if they'd keep the breeding in check to any significant degree.

That being said, both would be fine with Congo tetras.

Oh good. Thanks for the reply! My tentative plan is to have a group of Congo tetras as the centerpiece with some live bearers, longfin bristlenose plecos and other bottom level species. I want to keep the population relatively low at first and see how things progress. I do want guppies and platies in the mix. I want some breeding, but also want the population in check. Still researching a solid plan while I wait on the plant shipment.

Got 5 guppies 4 days ago shipped from California. Already have babies swimming around the top near filter tubes. I thought I was to get a pair of each type I ordered. One died in transport. The others are all female and pregnant when I got them.
