I had one round 6 of them from weeks back (6 weeks?) and am down to 1 of those which seems to be doing well and healthy in the main tank. Had 3 others from 3 weeks ago that never made it out of quarantine. Of the ones that died in the main tank a couple had some bloody looking gills before they passed. My guess is the last one may have made it if it weren’t for that ammonia spike they went through. I was already down to 2 when that happened one of which had the bloody looking gills then the ammonia spike happened and it didn’t make it more than a day or two after that. Of the other ones of that 6 that died a couple of them didn’t make it more than a day or two, another one made it a couple weeks, and another about a month. I see no signs of this in the one that’s surviving no fin rot, or any signs of disease. It is very plump too and I’ve always read that a fat oto is a happy oto.

I have scrapers but my glass seems to scratch easy so im very hesitant. Used to love my magnetic scraper but apparently there is a small piece of sand in it somewhere that I can’t seem to find so i have discontinued use of it.

If you can try to get the tank raised ones.

Also someone said to me that brass blades will never scratch glass so try something like this for algae:

Would probably be difficult for me to find tank raised ones but I can try. I had read this about them previously also.

I’ll have to look into the brass scraper hadn’t seen that before.

Well itís been a week or two and everything in the tank is nice and stable again. Water is crystal clear. No more calcium build up on the glass. Tank parameters are all good and stable. I had gotten 4 additional rasboras a few weeks ago and put them in quarantine those have now been in the main tank for 5 days or so with no issues(there are 9 in the school now) the one oto that is left looks very healthy and happy.

Debating if I should just go with the one oto or attempt adding 3 more or so. Also debating some panda cories.

Glad to hear all is well. Otos like to be in groups though they don't school, so if you can get a couple more s/he would probably feel more at ease. I have had panda corys and found them to be expensive and very sensitive to water conditions. Hardier panda looking corys are the bandit corys; Corydoras metae. The pandas I had lasted months, when I had c. matae they lived almost a decade. My pepper and green corys lived over a decade and were upgraded from a 29 to 55 to 75 and then into a tub when they moved into the current house.

I just know that with 8 gold barbs 9 harlequin rasboras and the oto I am getting pretty well stocked and donít want to push it too far. That said Iím debating if I can add more Otos and cories or just one or the other and regardless I think Iím looking to keep one of the smaller Cory species.

As far as cost goes I donít think pandas are too expensive locally I want to say 4/5 dollars each at the LFS. Not cheap, but not terrible.

Also, wow...over a decade?! Thats quite impressive! I like it!

I realize aqasvisor isnt the catch all end all of fish stocking but with my current stocking it has my tank at 86%. Adding 4 pandas and no otos takes it to 95% or so. Thats without adding more otos. I want to say if I add 3 otos and one more panda it shows right at 100%. Ive always tried to stay in the 80s/low 90s if possible.

What is the filtration and planting like? Not sure if you remember my 75 in the last house, it was stocked to 130-150% and the casualties I had were mostly from my CO2 fluctuations.

If I tried AqAdvisor with all the fish I keep in my 40B, I'd probably break it.
