I've never seen a store-bought "fat" oto, it may have had an illness, disease, or parasite....which I'm no expert with any of

Steady as she goes, wait and watch
Even with those Ich spots the one had you wouldn’t treat with meds? I think I’m on day 12 of para I was going to finish out 14.

Did you read my comments about the tail fins and that this seems to be a common theme with cats in my tank despite weekly water changes of around 40% and excellent water parameters.

I missed the part about the ich spots, go ahead and finish the Para treatments, but I've been lucky, and have had very few fish ailments to deal with, so am no expert on meds or treatment.

You aren't overfeeding, correct?....fish don't need to eat every day

What are your current readings on amm, ites, and ates?

0, 0, 5ppm. Doesn’t get much better than that. I feed once per day no more than they can eat in a couple minutes and usually skip one or two days per week.

Any thoughts on the tail fins? Seems on the surface the same thing is happening with the Otos that kept happened with the cories I kept even tho the Otos don’t hang out on the bottom. I can keep any ther fish without issues but seemed like something with cat fish and my tanks don’t get along they always end up with fin problems.

But any other species I get seems to do well. So keep trying till I get some good ones? Assuming these 3 Otos make it should I try to add some small corries like pandas? Or just some more rasboras and keep it at that? The bottom of the tank seems like it will be wide open still the Otos seem to hang out mostly mid to upper and on the tank walls.

Sure, add more otos if the originals do well...and you can try cats again...many times when bottom dwellers don't do well, it's because of a dirty substrate or poor water conditions...do you vac the substrate during WC's?...I forget, is it gravel, sand?

You can cut back feeding to every other day as well, that's what I do with all of my tanks
