    Wow thats a great habitat for the geophagus! Is the really colorful one the alpha?
    I also have some geophagus but i dont know what is the type I have.

    Yea Julie cichlid are beautiful and they have really unique personality! I have 4 of them and they bred in my 10 gallons. Recommend feeding bloodworm and brine shrimp.

    That looks like a geophagus tapajos "red or orange head."

    What a fun thread. I'm loving all the pictures. My experience with cichlids is limited. Firemouths are special to me, because they were one of the first fish I kept (back when I was a kid with no idea what I was doing, but everything felt magical) and much later, one of the first fish that ever successfully bred in one of my tanks. I might have to do a central America tank some day, just so I can keep them again.

    Make sure you have really hard water for a Central American tank.
