    Hi Guys,

    This one is real interesting.

I've heard that Oscars and flowerhorns react to environment outside the tank.

Hiw much that is true with Dovii or Red tail Gourami?

most if not all my fish over the years recognizes me and family and tend to swim to the front. With other people they will hide behind objects.

Fish get to know who feeds them. They see their provider coming, they know to come and get it. They know who changes their water and generally takes care of them. Animals aren't dumb. An unfamiliar stranger is an unknown quantity -- maybe another provider or maybe a predator out to harm them. They don't know, so they hide.

When I do water changes, they swim around openly the whole time. They know it's me. They know I'm helping maintain their little world. Now, if they would just know enough to avoid swimming right underneath the siphoning tube ...

Ime, I find cichlids are more apt to look at points outside the tank and bond with the owner. They don't have to be big Oscars, my rams eat from my fingers. I have never kept gourami or Dovii. But I'd put my money on the Dovii at least since it is a cichlid.

Lol, my gold tetras are very very timid. They hide if they see movement in front of their tank. For a long time too! Yeah, not all fish are responsive in a friendly way.
