This is a direct question about Cycling, but I decided it best to stick to the original newbie thread that I started.
So, my ammonia levels are stabilizing. I did a 50 percent water change two days ago, and today the ammonia is barely .25 ppm.
The nitrites, however, haven't budged. I'm guessing that it will take a while for the nitrite levels to read on a test? pH is about 7.8.

What is your nitrAte reading, or have you done one yet?

No nitrItes at all. I tested nitrAtes the other day and it read 5 ppm, same as today. I tried out the test very early on and got the same reading, so I think the tap water contains some nitrate.
