Wow zero replies. Am I the only one that thinks that's insane, or am I just old and don't know any better? This area is super expensive to live, but $300, 000 a year and your i considered poor!

No, you're not the only one...I could live like a king (by my personal standards) if I made 300K per year

And with the state of things in San Fran with the amount of homeless and just plain bums living on the street, it's even more ludicrous

My goodness I would be living in a box too. That's crazy to think that in order to live above the poverty line you have to make over a quarter million a year.

I think not many replies because this can get political real fast (sanctuary city and all).

    I saw this today:
The poverty guidelines are sometimes referred to as the “federal poverty level” or the “poverty line,” but these terms can be misleading because there are many potential meanings. The “San Francisco poverty line” may refer to the federal poverty guidelines, or to local income limits for eligibility in housing programs supported by the SF Housing Authority and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These limits are based on the area’s median income (AMI), unlike the thresholds and guidelines. For example, HUD defined “Low Income Limits” in San Francisco as $82,200 for an individual and $117,400 for a family of four in 2018, based on 80% of the area’s median income. However, the federal poverty guidelines in 2018 were only $12,140 for an individual and $25,100 for a family of four.

Oh, yeah. I have lots of opinions on this as I spend 2-3 days a week on the campus of San Francisco State.
But, Ive found my liberalism makes me very unpopular when I voice my opinions- so, Ill stay quiet and spare y'all. (grin)
