A few days ago I bought new filter pads to replace my filter floss in my Cascade 1500 canister filter. The filter floss really needed to be replaced. To make a long story short when I unscrewed my filter hoses I forgot to take the intake out take hoses out so I had a huge mess of water. My mind was going crazy and I stupidly without thinking squeezed one of the bio pads out a few times and now I think I restarted my cycle. My water is slightly cloudy, I have .50-1.0 Ammonia, no Nitrite and no Nitrate. I did add half dose of Prime just now. I have a 180 gallon and a Gar and Stingray.

What should I did right now?
Should I add a full dose of Prime.

    Please help.

    1- Mantilla hybrid Stingray
    1- Black Henlei/Leopoldi hybrid Stingray
    1- 14" Spotted Gar

Well went back and looked at my API test. I surly have Nitrate.

    My reading
    Ammonia .50
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate 2.0

I usually clean the poop out of the tank once a day. I did not do it yet today. Do you think the high Ammonia is just from the poop in the tank?

BB is very strong stuff and will most likely be ok. Your cycle might suffer a slight set back, but should regenerate fast.

I would suggest a large water change to help bring the ammonia and nitrates down.

Was your tank a newer set up? I agree with the above advise.

Good advice above...if the tank was fully cycled, sounds like you may be going through a fish-in mini cycle, just follow the sticky in the beginner section on getting through that.

I'd consider switching out the floss with media that doesn't break down quickly, like ceramics for instance

The tank has been cycled for like 5 months. I threw the floss away and bough better pads.
