    Default Confused with parrot cichlids

Hi everyone, I was a little confused with parrot cichlids; I know blood parrots are freshwater but are jellybean ones saltwater?
It's better to have and not need then to need and not have; this is especially true when you're dealing with fish and you need itch medication.

blood parrot cichlids are Central American cichlid hybrids, just like jellybeans, which are just another morph of blood parrots. So no, jellybean parrots are not saltwater.

Now there is a saltwater fish called a parrot fish.

There are true parrot cichlids, Hoplarchus psittacus, from South America that exist only in freshwater.

I'm betting the person you talked to confused parrot cichlids with parrot fish.

There are Central American cichlids that can be acclimated to thrive in salt water - Black Belt Cichlid (Paraneetroplus maculicauda) and Mayan cichlid (Mayaheros urophthalmus).
