    Default ghost shrimp breeding

Hey guys, so I think that I'm finally mature enough to start breeding ghost shrimps. It's been my dream for quite a long time. I have my 5 gallon fish tank for more than 1 year. I did my research in this topic and read a lot of articles about breeding and taking care of ghost shrimps. By doing my research I found a lot of useful info. Here is quite good article about ghost shrimp breeding and care. I found good tips there, maybe it will be useful for those who plans to buy ghost shrimps and breed it. But, I think it would be smart to learn from other people mistakes before doing them myself.. :D So what are your tips ? What was your mistakes when you started to breed ghost shrimps?

Are you currently keeping ghost shrimps?

If not, consider this: I had a ghost shrimp for a few months before it died. Based on my research, I think what killed it was my fish food. It died in about a month after I switched to a shrimp pellet that contained copper sulfate and copper proteinate.

    What kind of shrimp pellet?

Copper is deadly to all inverts, so any "shrimp food" that contains copper I'd avoid like the plague

The fish love it, but I'm not going to buy another can since my son wants to buy a ghost shrimp for our first goldfish's "birthday".

With these pellets, we can hand feed our goldfish. We'd hold a pellet with our fingers at the water surface and they'd swim up to eat it.

My mistake, when you posted "shrimp pellets", I assumed you meant shrimp-specific food

This is a fish food made primarily of shrimp, instead

I've not heard of the Wardley brand until now, are you located in the States?

In northern CA. I bought it at Walmart. Besides the possible shrimp issue, this seem to be excellent food, all the fish love it and it doesn't cloud the water at all.

Also, the tank doesn't smell after feeding this food. I had to throw away a can of Aqueon flakes because the tank would smell after feeding (which never happens with Tetrafin flakes and this shrimp pellet). Cheap too, I think it was only $5 for 9oz and its guaranteed analysis works great for goldfish.

    Understood.

Let's get back to the OP's original subject

Planet Inverts is a nice reference for many different shrimp species, here's the section on glass/grass/ghost shrimp
