Now is the best time to ask for new features since I am planning the new software.

Feel free to post any suggestions below. I can not promise that I will implement any of the ideas but I will keep them in mind and see what I can do.
If I think it is something I can achieve and that I think would be beneficial for the forum then I will try to include it.
Do as I say. Not as I do.

I think a sub-category for biotopes/nature-style aquariums would be a good addition. More and more people are becoming interested in attempting to achieve a set-up that is as close as possible to the flora/fauna of a particular area.
Of course, we wouldn't want to specify it as a strict biotope section as those can be very time-consuming/costly to achieve, but designating it as a Biotope/Nature-style category would give room to those interested to be as "strict" as they care to be.
In addition, if there was a subcategory- all the contributions that are made to this forum will be in one place for others to easily access.
There is the additional possibility that it could become a draw to new members who are looking for information.

I have to admit, however, that this is a personal interest of mine; so, the input of other members on if this category is of interest to them or has the possibility of drawing future members is certainly important. I do have some informative online resources that I can add to the category to help others begin their own projects.
    Just a thought.

These are just some non-essentials, but since William asked, I have a few suggestions

I'd like to see a re-vamped gift shop, or at least one where members could add suggestions/icons/emoticons/etc, the gifts themselves would become much more interesting...there's many there that have never been used, that I can recall...and it may be fun to see what kind of entries we get for new gifts

Pretty much the same for the "emojis" we can post on any thread...I'd like to see some newer ones.

And, for something that actually may matter, or anyone would care about...could we look at changing up the top pic/header/banner/whatever it's called at the top of the forum page?....I think William could come up with something a bit more lively and colorful, maybe multiple options with different pics, and let the members here pick one with a poll?

One forum I'm on has a "my replies" and "my threads" button next to new posts. If you click on it it takes you to a page that shows you posts you've replied to or threads you've created. Kind of nice when you want to look quick at a thread you've been apart of.

Also it would be nice if the new posts went back further and didn't completely clear out once a day, or whatever it does now. I feel like people who live somewhere other than the usa get hurt by this because their posts get cleared from the new post section before us Americans wake up. I work night shift sometimes too, and noticed this myself.

I also agree with slap that the Emojis could use updating.

Just a caution with "lively and colorful". I was on an older forum quite a while ago and they changed the look to add color and liven it up. It looked very childish and was very distracting. Fortunately, they had an option at the bottom to choose the "classic" form if preferred, which I used. I think that forum may be dead now - can't remember the name and it's been a few years since I was on there. So if major changes are made to the "look" of the site, including the banner, perhaps a choice to use a more classic look also could be implemented.

That Grouper in the upper left corner is about as ugly a fish as I've seen. And, who keeps Groupers in home aquariums? The last one I saw was at San Diego's Seaworld, and it was about the size of a small pickup truck. Perhaps something else would be more visually pleasing?

How about a longer time to edit your post?

For those of you who do not like the grouper? This header use to show in the dwarf cichlid forum but now shows everywhere.
