Question New aquarium 29 Gal bowing?

    0 Not allowed!
Hello! I'm new to the aquarium scene and I recently filled my first aquarium. its a 29 gallon aquarium with 1/4 in. thick glass. recently I noticed a thread about bowing and read a lot of mixed answers. Tried to measure mine to see how much it would be bowing and I found out that, when I hold a ruler in the middle of the glass near the top on either side its out about 1/8''. and when i hold it flush to either side its 1/4''. which one would be the amount of bow and should I be worried? the dimensions of the tank are 30'' long x 12.5'' wide and 18.75''. tall

    Welcome to the AC.

The amount of bow you are seeing is fine, and normal

Yep, that doesn't sound like a big deal. On my first 55g tank, someone had removed the center brace across the top. When I filled it, it bowed out so much that the lid fell into the water. THAT was scary. I wouldn't worry about 1/8" though.

Same here, my 33 gallon tanks are bowed so much the lids can fall into the water if i'm not careful. They've been going forever, got them 2nd hand. I guess that's why they are obsolete now and only 40g talls are available with a center brace. If they weren't already bowed, I'd add a center brace, but it really doesn't cause any issues. The 3ft long by 18" high dimensions are perfect for me. The 40gs are 20" high.
