    Default Lighting 55 gallon

Last piece to the tank I'm working on and I've been investigating lighting which I know absolutely nothing about. Thinking about doing the Finnex Planted+, has anyone had any experience with these lights? Would I need 1 or 2 for a 55 gallon?

Any other recommendation on lights? This is something I am really not sure on as a beginner.

I'm a fan of the Current Satellite LED's

    https://current-usa.com/satellite-freshwater-plus-led/

Many here use the Finnex fixtures with great success, I've tried them and prefer the Currents

There's many LED fixture brand out there, and lots to research, if you are interested

Will this be a planted tank, and if so, what kind of planting?

Yes, definitely going for a planted tank. Right now thinking of the stock being composed of some type of amazon sword, some type of crypt or java fern, micro sword, some anubias on the driftwood and maybe some red root floaters.

Nice, easy plants to grow...like I say, I'm partial to the Currents, they grow plants just fine

I use the Current Satellite "Plus", there's also a "Pro" line that has a 24/7 feature that mimics day and nighttime (automatically adjusts the lighting to dark at night, back on during the day), but those are a little pricey for me

I just adjust my LEDs manually, with the remote

So just to get an idea, for this Satellite Plus would I need 1 or 2 for a 55 gallon aquarium to properly give the needed light?

Just 1....you would need the 48-60" model...the 36-48" would work, but not give you the spread of light you need for the ends of the tank

I loathe my Finnex Planted + that I have on 2 of my tanks. I had this light on 3 of my tanks and when went out replaced with a Current Satellite Pro. Now when the others go, they will be transferred over to Current fixtures.

LOL...yep, I'm not a fan either, tried 2 different Finnex fixtures...the lighting was subpar, algae bloomed, the "nighttime" setting on the 24/7 was 3 hours long (?)..sold one away, gave the other away

I'd love to have Currents on my 5.5G tanks, but they don't make them that small
