Its foggy here this morning. Was brighter when I got up at 5 than it is now. Getting some more rain on and off today, but the next 3 days are supposed to me mostly sunny. Of course the weekend is expected to bring rain, typical Memorial Day weekend for us. Took Friday off so i will be planting our hostas, bee balm, coleus, and veggies. Have to clean up the planter boxes and adjust it a bit. still debating weather or not I should break the boxes down and just make a garden bed along the fence. Its already a useless area and by breaking the boxes down I will get a bit more room. I will need more dirt though, regardless what I do.

Anywho, got a brief video of the gobies last night.

Would love to get some green in the tank.

Your video wouldn't play for me for some reason.

I totally forgot that this coming weekend will be Memorial Day weekend.

I'm certain your garden will be terrific, either way you go. Planter boxes or border garden. Sounds like you've got some nice spring weather for your new plants.

We seemed to have skipped right over spring here this year. Today will be hot - forecast is for a 97º F high.

Youtube changed and I uploaded with the new setting, maybe that's why?

    Trying again:

OK I guess they changed something where you have to watch these on there website.

Anyway here is a link to see it in my googlephotos

    https://photos.app.goo.gl/na2WZLUpFyXc1gQH8

Sorry Matt, the water level is low because more water causes the wood to pop the lid off, waiting for it to get a bit more waterlogged before I top the tank off.

EDIT: Got it to work, you have to select the box to allow the video to play on other websites...goofy IMO.

Busy couple days. Took Friday off and spent a couple hours ordering 2.5 cubic yards of garden soil for delivery and then headed to Menards to rent a truck an buy 33 cement/cinder blocks at 30lbs a piece. No truck as the ONE they had was rented out and was supposed to have been in an hour and half ago. So broke down the order of blocks in a group of 17, then 16 since the CRV cannot handle a load over 850 lbs. Rest of Friday was spent breaking down the 3 raised oak garden beds I made 2 years ago when we first moved in. Used the panels to frame the fence to be the back for a garden bed, its going to stop the dirt from going through the fence to the open space at the back of the house. I was going to originally make the bed 20'x3' but we went with 24' instead so Saturday we went back to Menards to purchase another 7 blocks and a 4 wheel/tilting wagon as the 2.5 cubic yards of dirt were delivered and the crappy wheelbarrow hadn't wintered well and was crooked. We finished up the prep by digging a trench for the cinderblocks, leveling the dirt and laying the first layer of block and part of the second layer. Extremely exhausted and totally wiped out we slowly continued today (in almost 90 degree weather and full sun) to move the remaining cinderblocks and 1/3 of the dirt into the bed. Totally pooped out and was afraid to get sunstoke, so we went in at 2 with the hopes of going back out at 4 to finish moving the dirt from the front to back, however its still 87 and we are exhausted, so plan now is to plant some flowers/coleus in the front and get up very early tomorrow to finish moving the dirt and planting our veggies. Lots of work but hopefully it will pay off.

Made these 2 years ago when we moved in, the dirt in the beds has decomposed to be less than half of what it was back then. Instead of refilling the beds we decided to elongate by making a raised bed along the fence with cinder blocks and filling with garden soil. Plan is to plant some corn, beans, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, cucumbers, some winter squash, radishes and carrots.

This was the garden boxes two years ago:

Thanks, its a crabapple we have another in the front too. The birds love the berries in the fall/winter. I trimmed the heck out of it when we first moved in and it needed another trim but it may be too late in the season for that. We just duck under the branches. The PITA is that it sends runners in the ground with clones and you can't walk barefoot otherwise it feels like stepping on a nail (ask me how I know )

We completed filling the bed, it turned out really nicely. Took another 20 wagons full of dirt and all of the remained of our energy. having early dinner/late lunch and then will head out to start planting the veggies. Will try to take some updated pics if I remember and when I can. Wish today was Sunday and not Monday, but it is so Happy Memorial day to everyone! Hope you have some good weather and are able to enjoy it with your family if you are still sheltering in place like we are.

As for the goby tank, thanks and the thermometer is moved and tank is topped off, will try and get some pics of that too. Probably tomorrow after work.

Here are some pics of the completed bed. I know its not 100% straight, but we worked the best we could with the tools we had and are proud of it.

Thank you. Were getting some thunderstorms this afternoon so that will get everything started with a bang. Was looking forward to taking a stroll, but not if its raining, lol

On other news, seems the Goby tank has a very slow leak on the front (left as your facing it) corner. Sis and I have been noticing a buildup of salt-but no water, its that small of a leak but can't be addressed from the outside since it seems it is behind the trim. So Sis has a slightly smaller cube she was going to break down to make a paludarium. Since I don't want to have the goby sitting in a bucket for a week (till the silicone cures 100%) I will just swap tanks, scaling down a bit since her tank is closer to a 30 where mine is close to a 40 The gobies will be fine in either tank, and while sis empties/cleans her tank they can stay in their tank until I have to break it down which should only take a couple hours. I will have to cut the wood down a bit as the tank is slightly shorter as well..

Have to say that life with fish is never boring.
