Ran into a snag this weekend. The goldfish I recently purchased wound up dying, the two I got for free (one no eyes, one 1 eye) are OK. Well all of the goldfish have ich, so OK is relative. The older two are upstairs in a tub and wound up getting septicima-Butterscotch was pink instead of orange and Roxie was red instead of the opal white; both looked like they were rolled in powdered sugar and no one thought they would last the night. Three days later (and 5 WC and 3 doses of Ich Attach and Quick Cure) they are back to their normal colors with a few grains on their tails.
The two visually impaired goldfish are in the QT tank downstairs and showed no signs of ich, though doing a WC on all the tanks downstairs with the same python led to my 125 now having some gouramis with a few suspicious grains ! So we upped the temp and dosed some more ich meds.
Also my sisters syno came down with a mysterious ailment, she is sloughing off slime coat, has frayed fins and is lethargic. The Congos and pleco in the tank are all fine. So we set up a QT tub for her and some meds should have been delivered for her today. Sis is very bummed about poor Crinkle Cut. I hope the meds work and she makes it.
So we need to disinfect all of our stuff or buy stock in ich medication... ...maybe both.

I'm not sure what's going on with our fish. I had six Congos, they all died. They were in the same tank as my sister's catfish, however they have no signs of any illness. It looks like they just drop dead for no reason. The odd thing was they were quarantining with my lemon tetras and the day that I was going to separate the two the four lemon tetras I had drop dead the same way. They were fine the night before the day I went to separate the two all four of them were just dead they look like they were sleeping but they were dead. So I'm not sure what the heck is going on. What are those times I'm sure everyone has had where you just feel like shutting everything down and not going on anymore with the fish Hobby.

Terrible news Nat, I'm so sorry to hear this
They were in a tank or a tote?....could something have fallen into the tub/tank to harm them?...I know you have a curious cat running around
They appeared fine, just died for no reason?....any other fish with them?

The lemon tetra and congos were in a 20l tank under QT. The lemons had been there for 2 months, Congos for 1 with no issues when the lemons mysteriously died.
Congos were moved into the 75 gallon tank with the syno and Gruyere the pleco (ghost's son). He was fine but now has the same/similar fungus that Crinkle-cut the syno has (and is slowly recovering from). Sis just dosed the whole 75 to kill whatever is in the tank (again, hopefully :( ).
Sis's friend said maybe its something viral and the fungus on the catfish is just an added bonus from depressed immune system. Both the syno and the 75 with the pleco ate being treated with sulfaplex. I hope Ghost's son doesn't die.
Spent hours-most of yesterday pulling apart the little bits of plants (mostly buce, baby vals and crypts) form the planted tubs and the plants/snails/shrimp out of the two 5.5 gallon shrimp tanks. Set up a 15 for the shrimp and special crypts (nuri, nuri rose maiden and silver queen) and put the few blyxa japonica I have left as sis pilfered the majority for her puffer tanks and the others were smothered in the planted tub by the duckweed.
I placed an order with live aquaria and have 8 threadfin, 10 gold barbs and 4 bumble bee gobies coming in tomorrow. The threadfin are going upstairs with the honey gouramis/eels. The god barbs are (hopefully) going with the Dojo loaches, unless they are snack size. The gobies are going in a 30 brackish tank, I currently have 1 in a 5-ish gallon set up, but felt bad since they are social though territorial.
