Well here's a little update on the fishy goings on within the house as it relates to the fish room.

First I got to the Animal Island Pet store in Midlothian this weekend. Sis was looking for a specific variety of eel that is often mis-labeled as zig zag but can come in two varieties-one that stays small (8"-ish) and another than can get very large 40". The smaller variety is called M. corcumcinctus. They had these two weeks ago, but unfortunately were out at the time. So she picked up a dozen pearl danios for the 30 gallon loach tank, they were a steal for $0.79/each! As we walked around the store I saw a tank full of some large fish, oscars and arowanna and one huge snakeskin gourami. Wow was she cute. We kept going and I saw some juvenille kuhli loaches as well, they were only 6 for $15. Another steal so I got the 6. As I was paying for them the giant gourami kept nagging at me. I do have a 125 and she (sis confirmed it was a girl) was so sweet...plus she was also a steal at $15.99. I asked the staff how long they had her, they told me she came in on Friday and the juveniles were all sold out, it was only Saturday. I knew if I waited a week (this place is 1.75 hours away from home) she would be gone and I would be kicking myself-so I told them to bag her up too.

Say hello to Vanilice (Serbian for little vanilla cookie) ...Matt say it with me vah-ny-ly-tseh

The cookie for comparison... (thank to https://poemeblog.com/recipe-vanilic...dwich-cookies/ for the image)

She is currently in the tub with the corys-I can only imagine what they thought when she went in there . The kuhlli loach juvis are in the other tub with the other gouramis and kuhlis and Ghost and the other danios.

Sis wound up getting an adult M. corcumcinctus at Fish Planet, then on a whim we stopped into pet(not so)smart to see what they had, and she lucked out because they also had juvi M. corcumcinctus-labeled (incorrectly)as peacock eels. To their credit there were 2 varieties of eels in the small tank-one almost black in comparison-but not peacock either She was able to get the 3 correct eels so she has the 4 that she was hoping for in the first place.

Got some videos of the tub-I really tried to get one of her, the brief flashes you can kinda see shows she colored up nicely already and isn't as pale as she was in the store tank.

Also got a video of the new additions in the basement, mainly the eels and a surprise in my 20L. Sis just placed an order with Imperial Tropics for some super red Cherry barbs to go in the 40B with the eels. (@amazonjoe hope your doing well)

So sorry for the long winded post...

Thanks Matt, I really can't wait to see her in the 125, original plan was the pearls to be the centerpiece-but she will hopefully steal the show, though she is a timid big fish that is for sure.

Thanks, that DW was a steal and I hope I can get another box at a similar $--they have gone up about $40-still cost effective but a bit out of my current budget.

Wish I could send some your way, would they take it going thru customs?

    Thanks guys and gals!

The concert was so much fun-just wish there were more Al and a bit less orchestra, they started things off with 4 sets and then a 20 minute intermission until Al and the band joined them. We all had so much fun and I sang and cheered until I got a sore throat, lol.

Well current news, I was all set to place a very small order at TWS for 6 lemon tetras, 6 honey cats, 1 red eye puffer and 4 "bumble bee" catfish. Fish total was $127 as the cats were on the pricey side, but then they slapped $60 in shipping charges! They said if I wanted to remove 4 fish then they could lower shipping to $45. I told them they were ridiculous with the shipping and I won't be ordering through them again. Fish Planet in Deerfield regularly makes wholesale orders through them and have a flat $120 shipping fee, I can ask them to add some fish to the order for me and pay a bit more for the fish versus 1/3 of the cost in shipping. Plus sis and I were going to the catfish convention in MI so we will wait and see if they have the catfish we wanted there...we can wait-have been for so long now.

We have our fish club member points auction picnic Sunday and the VP asked if I wanted 6 of his female lemon tetras for $1.50 ea, I said yes and will be bringing him 1/2 cup of susswasertang for $6, so will get the lemons for $3. Also my sister's friend is going to be out of town during the auction so she is giving us her points so sis and I each will have 300 points to play with. I am looking for some more lemon tetras (if available) and some pearl danios to bump up the 8 I currently have. Of course I won't turn down and nice plants that will be up for auction and could use some food-they usually have a bunch of Kens flakes and pellets available for auction. Personally don't like/feed flakes (too much fillers IMO) but I like the pellets and wafers. Oh and I purchased two green phantom plecos (L120-not highfin) for the Koi guppy tank as there is a bit of algae growth going on. I will see how they do and may move on to the honey cat tank once that gets set up as the plecos also are current loving fish that habitat river stream environments. They were originally going to go into the honey cat tank until TWS disappointed me with their ridiculous price gouging shipping rates. The lemon tetras will temporarily make a home with my sister's ells in the 40 breeder she already has set up.

I have been thinking over the tanks I had wanted to set up and changed some plans, so I won't be needing the RO/DI unit and all of the things I would need to get to set that up for the 50 gallon low-boy. Instead the kuhlis will go into the 125 and a friend of my sister is sending me a 14" Borneo python eel. Seems this is turning into a bit of a monster fish tank, lol. This eel is being bullied in the 440 gallon tank he is now calling home, so will be re homed to my tank (once set up) to live the rest of his life in peace (assuming he).

I am not 100% of what I will do with the low boy but may make it a honey gourami tank, or maybe a small barb or tetra tank. Right now my priority is going to be to get the 125 background set up and the tank up and to set up a 75 gallon tank for the corys so I can get the fish out of the tub upstairs.
