Still have a few big purchases (other than the fish of course) the first is the polycarbonate lids that we will be putting on all of the tanks. Wonder if anyone out there has any experience with them. I saw a couple YouTube about them and only one guy said to measure the tanks when they are full of water as the measurements change a bit as the tank flexes due to the pressure? Not sure about that...

Silly me, we moved the computers downstairs. I forget how darn heavy my tower is until I have to move it, its got to be close to 40lbs. I dropped my monitor -but fortunately for me nothing bad happened. Don't know if there is another white monitor out there...and it would cut into the fish funds to replace it, lol.

So I got spooked (boss walked by to drop off shred documents in bin behind my desk) and didn't get to list the other big purchase, the heaters. So going thru my fish list I have determined that the majority of tanks will need a heater, unless we get a whole room heater and then we would have to chill the cooler water tanks of which there will be 5-10 (2 river tanks, Sis's native tank, the 4 shrimp tanks).

Also am still trying to get a plan on the electrical. I am too complicated and am not sure if I want a large power strip/surge protector, or multiple small power strip/surge protectors one each for the lights, another for the heaters and a third for the current makers...I know, its who I am

Does anybody from your fish club have a fish "room" similar to what you're creating? I know you're doing tons of research but it might be worthwhile just tossing some of your ideas around (like with respect to heaters and electrical) with someone who's been there before. I seem to think I've seen some videos of people who have set up rooms that worked fine, but over time they've had better ideas arise and wish they had done this or that the first time around. If you could actually see one or two that might help even more. Mac is the only one on this forum that comes to mind that has something similar built. Maybe Amazon Joe, not sure? Of course there's Rachel O'Leary's basement, too. I could get expensive making changes later.

There is a Greater Chicago Chiclid Society swap Sunday (say that 3 times fast!) It falls on our Easter, but I am still going to go an check it out anyway. Surprisingly I need some more drift wood and plants, lol. Am excited to see what they have. This is the swap that gets so busy you realy have to be mean and shove yourself into get any where close to the tables. It starts at 10 so Sis and I are planning on getting there a bit earlier to be the first (theoretically) in.

They usually have a vendor list, but I guess not this time.

that is a great idea and I haven't flat out asked anyone. However this gentleman does and I have been watching his videos.

This past meeting was the first one I was able to go to since December-so I haven't really had a chance. I did go to another member's fish room in Indiana about a year ago-it was awesome and I got a lot of ideas from him too. A lot of the other guys are mainly breeding, and though we will be doing some breeding-the main purpose is to have an assortment of display tanks.

Lol, plans are meant to be changed right? I was bidding on some plants off a facebook site and a member of the group sent me a message and had a bunch of plants at fantastic prices so I spent the majority of what I was going to bring Sunday for plants on this order.

I was going to go to pick up some driftwood, but found a great deal online; snagged the last bulk box of 50 lbs of mopani the guy was selling for under $100 (free ship) so my funds for Sunday are officially gone.

Just means now I will have time to try and make a dent in all the other stuff I have to do-and that's a list I really need to try to chisel down!

Well just a (not so quick -I just ramble on, ) video update. Those wheels are going so slow you can hardly tell they are turning!

Good news that you were able to purchase a bunch of plants and driftwood. Your progress is moving right along. It may feel as though your wheels are turning slowly, but it doesn't appear thataway to me. Don't forget to have fun along the way! This is an awesome project!

The fish room is really taking shape. I like the aquascape in your sister's little tank. Zelda is beautiful.
