The lfs got some of these in this week. I'm thinking about grabbing a couple for either my 75g or my dsm tank. I've never owned apistos, but they sure catch my eye! From what I've been reading they are plant friendly also.

Maybe I'll try to find a YouTube video to give an example of them.

Whoa, they are incredible! Get them, get them!
I would get them if they appeared at my LFS. It looks like they are larger than GBR, but very colorful I would like them in place of my GBR, they are just a bit too small at max 2.5 inches.

Lol I know don't they look amazing! As long as they are still there this weekend I think I'll snag some. Idk when they'll be able to get more, and I think I'll regret not getting them!

So I assume they're wild caught

How many are in the display tank at the LFS, and are they large enough to sex?

I don't think they are wild. I was reading that you can rarely find wild caught hongsloi in the aquarium trade. I'm not sure why, but I've actually never seen an aposto in my area.

My "Lfs" is an hour and a half away, so I haven't seen them yet. Sounds like he was getting a half a dozen in. I'll have to wait to see if I can sex them in store, but it sounds like people have a hard time seeing them in their fish tanks because there can be "sleeper" males who take the color of females, so the dominant males let them get closer to the real females. If that's the case I'll probably be able to sex a dominant male pretty easily, but other then that idk.

They are beauties. I have been wanting to give apistos a try too, just a different variety. Hope they do well for you if you decide to give them a try.

I'm pretty sure this is the apisto type pic I saved on my phone for the longest time. It was my dream apisto, I didn't even think it was real lol! So green eyed over here! I hope it all works out for you. What a bonus if they are not wild caught. I know a lot of ppl like wild caught, but for me I prefer tank bred for a few reasons.

Ya, same here. If I was trying to breed fish and wanted to stay away from inbreeding then maybe, but I try to stay away from wild caught fish.
