    Question Coconut shell cave

    0 Not allowed!
Hi everyone, sorry if this might be in the wrong section; anyway, I was wondering what kind of priming/water-proofing I would need to do to a dried coconut half-shell to be able to add it to my betta aquarium. He needs a cave, and the coconut shell would be perfect. Will it rot in the aquarium without a protective coat?

    Thank you.
It's better to have and not need then to need and not have; this is especially true when you're dealing with fish and you need itch medication.

I just put one in one of my tanks without any preparation. Not sure how long they last but mine was sold specifically for aquarium use and no directions for any prep were given.

I believe that @Slaphppy7 made one for one of his tanks.

    No waterproofing needed.

Sand the surfaces to get rid of the fibrous material, or you can leave it, won't hurt anything.

I boiled mine for 15-20 minutes, then put it in the tank, no special prep of any kind

Agreed, I threw one in my pleco tank as a cave, it has held up nicely for a couple years now :)
