    I don't use fish food... But if you want to try something else you can use straight Ammonia no additives and any number of online calculators will tell you the dose for the strength to get to your desired ppm. If you are comfortable picking a safe Ammonia from your hardware store you can order one from Doctors Foster and Smith online that they assure is safe for cycling I believe it's a Dr Tim's product :) and it is pure Ammonia.
    Doing that prevents the decay process delay and prevents the mulm buildup in your filtration and substrate. And it's highly accurate and easy to adjust if you want as the changes are immediately apparent after you add it to the tank.

    I assume you meant Nitrate not Nitrite. Nitrite there is only one bottle and yes I do everything you listed. Thank you

    If I don't see any change by Sunday I will go buy another gravel scifun and start over with pure Ammonia. I have ordered Dr. Tims on Amazon years ago.
