I have definitely been there before. Yep, I think 3 times.

Sorry you lost a fish maybe. A dead fish and uneaten food would easily cause a mini cycle. I'm with Rocksor, I don't feed the fish at all if i'm gone for a week or less.

Do you have a nerite snail in here? If so, that could be the cause of the white specks on the decor.

What's everyone's thoughts on the missing danio? I can't seem to find it anywhere. I really thought I would find it up in my filter cause that's where we witnessed it go last week but I can't seem to find it.

How may days should I skip feeds right now? Just the one today or should I go a couple?

The corys could have handled a dead danio, do you have a pleco in there-they could also eat a dead fish overnight.

I would do a thorough vacuuming with the WC and not feed for a couple days. It won't hurt the fish and overfeeding can lead to fatty livers.

So it's possible it got eaten?

I plan to check water parameters this evening and based on that may or may not do an additional water change and regardless of all that I don't plan to feed for 2 days.

Yes, quite possibly it was scavenged...if you had snails or shrimp, I would say "definitely"...

Most definitely. Everything will scavenge given the opportunity.

So you think the other fish would have had to die first? All of the fish in the main tank have been very very healthy! Then again I'm sure the one that got up in the filter right before I left got a good run for its money inside that filter maybe it was hurt and I didn't notice?

I thought it was one missing danio, what other fish are missing? The danio could have been injured when he got into the filter and it just progressed while you were away.

Most omnivores will scavenge dead fish-this can be detrimental if your fish dies from a disease and the other fish eat the infected fish. Food smells like food in the water; be it processed pellets or a dead fish. For some reason snails are usually left alone (unfortunately, because that is one way to quickly mess up a tank)
