I forgot to mention.... Hit up the local hardware stores... I've never had luck at Ace hardware but going into other local places I always find it. Sometimes it does not have the ingredients listed but a Google search for the MSDS aka SDS (required by US law) will tell you if you can't find an ingredient list online for the specific product. :)

Ace is where I got my janitorial strength ammonia that you see everyone using. Wonder why they wouldn't have it at your Ace

Yeah, I'm gonna try Home Hardware. It's my last option

I've not had it at 3 Ace hardwares over the years lol but then again those three were all located inside grocery stores and not stand alone businesses... Rural living I imagine plays a part, being in a grocery store the grocer likely sells their fancy Ammonia much more readily so the Ace's don't carry it.

    How big is the QT?

How long do you want to QT the fish?

You can just put them in with Primed water and seeded media, check params every day, do WC's as necessary

Only issue I see is that the tank will probably begin to cycle, and ph fluctuations may be an issue...again, depends on how long you plan to QT

Can't help you out as I never cycle with ammonia, but I'm along for the ride with you to see how the QT turns out :)

I found some ammonia afterall at Home Hardware. Are there any other Canadians here?
@Slaphppy7 I'll probably use one of the currently empty 33gs.
I'll be QTing them for as long as it takes. I'm planning to follow Rocksor's procedure, at least some of it, he QT's for 2 months at least, I'll have to check for sure. I usually QT for 3 to 6 months, but if I use prophylatix, I don't have to play the 'watch and see' guessing game.

Usually it's pretty much an instant cycle if I get the bacteria right off the bat. Not sure what I'm going to do yet, but thanks for the opinions.
