    Exclamation Molting hermit crab

I think that my hermit crab, Pinchels, is molting. He dug a little hole for himself in the coconut- hull bedding, and won't move. I know disturbing a molting crab can kill it- so I didn't mess with him. Their terrarium does not have very deep substrate, so I am worried the other crabs will eat him. Would he be all right if the molting area was covered with a plastic blueberry carton? One that went down into the substrate? Also, how big do they grow after a molt and how much larger of a shell will he need? I have an undertank heater that can be used if need be to help keep the humidity up.
    Crab history:
I got them as a gift from a teeny pink metal wire "crabitat". One of them died of disease, so there was only one. I got her some company. That crab died while molting, because I kept them on gravel substrate due to some "mis-information" from a hermit-crab keeper. So there was one crab, and I got him three friends. One died of food poisoning (very very sad story)and the others are doing well. There are three crabs total.

Any advice on how to proceed with this molting case would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!
It's better to have and not need then to need and not have; this is especially true when you're dealing with fish and you need itch medication.

Pinchels made it through his molt all right! Such a relief. :)
BTW I got another crab named Jo-Jo (pronounced sho-sho )
