I'm pretty sure that's a male according to the dorsal, but he looks really round too. So this is a half EB/ half Gold ram?

I always wanted to try and cross Gold with EB. But two EB genes and two Gold genes. He does have the platinum-like sheen! Very cool. He doesn't look pure Gold correct? I've never had the Gold ones. I see some GBRs in the background, I'm really curious about your tank lol!

Hello...thanks for the replies. So, I have the male Gold Ram and a GBR female. These two are left from three breeding pairs I started with. The female has not laid any eggs since I've had her. They're in a 10g tank. Water temp. Is 84. TDS is 250-275. IMG_20180807_213121_479.jpeg

So with that TDS is somewhat safe to say the water has a high level of minerals perhaps so have you also checked the GH/KH I find the best range for breeding is under 150TDS and GH roughly under 8°dH and KH under 4-5°dH doesn't need much but try to lower your parameters with RO/DI water and you will see colors you never seen before in your fish

Also a 10g is to small for two males and one female so keep a close eye on agression

Thanks Joe...there is only a male and female in the tank. Not too much aggression. I've bred discus in the past and had to use Ro water then. I'll double check the water parameters and let you know. I appreciate your response.

Ah sorry for some reason I thought there was two males lol so I’ve also found they like to usually spawn on darker tiles or decent size brown leaves

No worries...not much luck breeding German Rams so I appreciate the help. I just received 10 more GBR to jump start the process.

Best approach there is to observe and remove pairs set them up in their own 10g or its possible to have multiple pairs in a larger tank if you like
