If you dont want to drill the glass to acomodate the pipe, then get a piece of acrylic/perspex. Easy to cut as well, and various colours.

Thank you. We shouldn't need to drill the glass. If it had come to that, I would have returned the glass lids and used something else. I looked at acrylic for making custom lids, but decided to be lazy and go with store bought glass lids. :-)

Less than 2 weeks until it's tank transfer time. We still need to silicone around the edges of the HDPE panel, but I've got another dang upper respiratory infection and can't handle breathing those fumes.
I'm trying to plan ahead and figure out what I'll need to make the transition as smooth as possible. Today I bought a 32 gallon Brute trash can and a trash can dolly for mixing and moving saltwater.

I think it's time for another thread name change. @Slaphppy7 could you update the title to 'Rebecca's Simple Garden Reef'?
We plan to move everything over from the 40B to the 65 gallon tank on Wednesday and I'll be making a few other changes in the process.
Here's a list of the equipment I'll be starting out with:
    65 gallon aquarium
    Pine stand and canopy
    Glass lids
    Aqueon quietflow 75 HOB filter
    Eshopps PSK-100H protein skimmer
Hydor Koralia Evolution 600 GPH circulation pump
    Two Aqueon 100W heaters
    Digital thermometer
    Two T8 lights with Marine-glo 20W and Power-glo 20W bulbs
    Fosmon dual light timer
    40-50 lbs. live rock
Misc.: filter biomedia, activated carbon, phosphate remover filter pad
To help keep things simple, the new set-up will be bare bottom (at least to start) and I will be implementing the Berlin method for filtration: live rock, protein skimmer and partial water changes. I'll only add kalkwasser or two-part dosing to the mix, if and when they're needed.
I'll add a few more fish, corals (softies and LPS) and CUC once the new setup has a chance to settle for a while.
