    I would imagine that will work fine! If not, Lowe's sells lexan that is easy to cut and nice and clear. It's what I use now on my tanks since I can easily cut it to match my equipment perfectly.

    Edit:. The only think I'm not sure about is if you would get salt buildup on it, and then scratch it trying to get it off. I've never owned a saltwater tank, so I haven't had to worry about that.

    I'll have to look for the Lexan the next time I'm at Lowe's. I had bought some acrylic to make lids for the 65g, but have been advised to use Lexan.
    I usually wipe down the lids with a damp rag or paper towel, so that should be ok for the silicone.
