    Default fish doses of medications

These doses are from Carpenter's fourth edition exotic animal formulary for fish
acetic acid, glacial 1-2ml/L 35-40 second bath (safe for goldfish, may be toxic for smaller tropical fish covers trematodes

praziquantel 5mg/kg orally or intraceolomic, repeat in 14-21 days treats cestodes, some nematodes (some large animal stores carry syringes and needles, or your dog and cat vet. the downside is having to catch the fish twice, but you don't have to treat the water

there are medicated feeds but again, all the fish will be treated whether they need it or not.

anecdotal antibiotic dose for "dropsy" amikacin 5mg/ml intraceolomic repeat in 6 days (note amikacin belongs to a medication dose that can cause organ damage. If the condition is caught early, this can help. I dosed my own fish this way, and she went from floating vertically at the top of the tank with pale gills and difficulty breathing, to normal swimming, the return of color to the gills and return of appetite. Organ damage can occur weeks after treatment, so weigh the consequences of not treating to treating.
