The supplier for my store has what he refers to as "Green Coral Dwarf Gourami". I've never known this colour variation -- though I am a bit of a beginner here -- but I can't find any info on the net to confirm whether this is a natural colouration or not. Can anyone tell me definitively? I need a new Gourami for this tank before the Christmas rush. Something that will look good with Pink Kissers and young Gold Honeys.

I doubt those are injected fish, as Dwarf Goramies have been captive bred in all sorts of color variations, including blues and greens. I prefer the natural coloration myself.

That name may just be a fancy name for a common type of gourami. I would look up different types of them to see if any look like the one in the store...there are quite a few stores that spruce up the name just so you think your getting something uncommon. And its true what Dave said...there are so many bright colors of the gourami theres really no reason to dye them.

I guess I was a little ambiguous. It's my store I'm buying the fish for, and I have no pictures to go on. I've looked up Dwarf Gourami online and found red and blue variants (both of which the supplier lists in stock) but green was a new one and my searches yielded no images or information. I'm trying to avoid bringing in any painted fish to the store so I just wanted to be certain. Thanks for the help.

I had no clue there was such a practise before I came to this store. The previous manager had brought in Painted Glassfish and Fruit Tetras, and I just thought they looked cool. The double-colouring on the Glassfish seemed odd though, so I looked it up on Wikipedia. I have a hard enough time with needles on my skin, but jabbing a tiny little fish?
Anyway, I went ahead and got the Gouramis. They look much like the blue dwarfs, only they shimmer green in the proper light. Though when stressed they turn a shade of white I've not seen in Gouramis before.

I think dyed fish is a sick, sick practice. Kudo's for being leery and checking on this.

dying fish is bad. Sometimes they put chemicals in the water to remove the natural coating of the fish so the dye can get in. Its cruel
