How long has the tank been set up?

What kind of filtration do you have? What is the tank temp?

My preference would be to add more

    Option
    1. 8 x Columbian tetras
    2. 12 x Bleeding heart tetras

Hi I am not a beginner fish person. I have had this tank going for years. The problem I have had is choosing the tank mates. I have always had black skirts because they are easy to take care of. I just got the white skirts yesterday for color. Now I want fish with color because of the hiding and the black skirts are hard to see or hiding . Thats why I thought of neons or guppies. What do you think and how many?

For fish that are up front and usually always visible, I would suggest the guppies - all males. That is, if the white skirts and black skirts would not nip at their fins. I've never had those tetras so am unfamiliar with their behavior.

I have the green neon tetras which are very colorful, but tend to hide in the back a lot. You could also try one or two honey gouramis for a splash of color.

Why not some flame tetras (aka rio tetras)?

Until the filtration question is answered, I have no options to offer, sorry.

It would also help to know the ph, gh, and kh readings of the tank water.
