Another big bump, finally got the Satellite Plus light. Now to refamiliarize myself with the fish less cycle. Probably need to wait for spring to begin setting this up, but can’t wait to finally get this dang thing started!

Can anyone give me a simple explanation of what Eco substrate is?
I just use Menards Pea Gravel and it works fine, plus it's 100 times CHEAPER than everything else at the LFS. Plants are happy with it, unless the algae takes over. Just be sure to wash the Gravel before use.

You know if you have a question you can start your own thread instead of responding to one that's 2 years old. Eco-complete as a substrate for plants with a high cation exchange threshold, meaning that it pulls lots of ions out of the water and stores it and releases it to plant roots as needed. Having used it in my 75 gallon tank for many years I can say with much experience that is is very good for planted tanks. I feel so good about the product that I will be using it in my 120 gallon tank and would prefer it over pea gravel any day if I wanted to encourage good plant growth. Like pea gravel Eco complete will not down unlike other plant-based substrates that do breakdown over time and unlike dirt Eco complete cannot be used up since it's just an ion exchanger.
All that being said, I think this thread can be closed- don't you agree? @Slaphppy7

Thread isn't that old, OP last posted a few months ago, so I'll keep an eye on it.
@The Cichlid Keeper, please start your own threads with questions you may have regarding substrate or anything else.
