    Question What are in Tefes?

Hey AC. My co-worker and I have been talking about discus for some time now. He is an experienced keeper and breeder while I have never kept them personally (I've kept them in the shop before and they seem to do well before they are purchased). I am someone who cares very much about the 'wild' look of fish. I've been looking at doing a discus project passively for about the last three months. I looked at blue and greens but recently I've been looking at reds. My friend has a lot of Alanquers but I have been looking at Tefe style Discus. What strains are in this fish? My friend said that he believes Tefes are a wild type mixed with a form of domesticated. Also, if you have any personal pictures of Alanquers, Santarems, or Tefes, please post a picture.

Yep. It looks like a lot of the general wild types but has the polkadots on the side.

I should also note that there are different color schemes of "Tefe". I've been looking at Hans (mostly because our shop has a good relationship with him) and his seem to have a more red scheme.

Here is a very good article describing the wild Tefe, which is a variant of the green discus, Symphysodon aequifasciata aequifasciata

I have a F1 Alenquer discus pair. Here is the male in foreground:
