Some more pics! They are coming up to see me just like my betta boys, swimming back and forth a bit excitedly trying to see if I’ll give them any food. Then once they figure out it’s not feeding time they start looking around again lol. Looks like they’re starting to get a bit of orange in them. Some pics(I need to work on getting better photos lol)

Little update, they’ve coloured up a lot more. Much darker and their fins are starting to get some color in them. The big one is definitely the dominant, doesn’t seem to be aggressive when not near the smaller one(gosh, it’s about time to name these guys!), but if I come up they both say hi and he’ll chase off the smaller guy. No real aggression though, just a bit of, “hey, your to close!”. So I’ll keep an eye on that but don’t think it’ll cause any problems, espicallt the plants fill in a little more. Some pics-

They’re funny little buggers, supposed to be relatively difficult to feed but accepted pellets the first day and now peas! They were very confused at first like, “Am I supposed to eat this green blob?”, but once they figured it out they ate em’ up! Alpha(decided while I figure out names to call the dominant/bigger one alpha and smaller one beta) was even ‘running’ away from the other fish trying to steal the pea from him. Not the best pic, but here’s one to show how much he crammed his mouth-

No idea how I missed this post! Great fish! Beauties! I'm excited to see things as they go on with these guys. I've looked into them myself but I have always opted for something different in the end. They are gorgeous in breeding colors too!

Haven’t updated this or been on in awhile, so here’s a little update.
They are both so much bigger! My babies are growing up! I’m truly horrid at measuring things in my head, but I think they are around 1 1/2-2 inches now. Beta is still smaller than Alpha, probably the same amount he was prior, but he is still getting big himself. Alpha seems slightly less aggressive to beta now, not near as much as “This is my space, stay away!” As he was a bit ago. I think they’ve gotten better colours than last time I’ve updated, or at least more defined stripes and such.
One thing I have noticed though is that after adding them all my snails are dead... So I think they may be snail eaters which I had no idea about prior to getting them. Luckily those were just pest snails, so it isn’t a major deal. Rather have Alpha and Beta than snails any day!

Some lovely quality pics(I need to clean the glass...)

Nice to hear they are doing well, pretty fish, and not very common.

I wish more people had them, they are very nice and enjoyable fish. Or overtly aggressive or anything. It also cracks me up that their supposed to be “shy” and not eat prepped food right off the bat. They are neither of those things! They still come up to me whenever they see I’m there and if they don’t see me I do a very light tap, once they hear it they come over right away! Funny little buggers.

I still consider adding them to a tank. I'm glad to hear they are doing well for you!
