We got almost 9 inches of rain in 24 hours where I live, on Wednesday...no severe weather, just constant rain
Here is part pf a storm system that was out over the Gulf last night, didn't affect us, but I like the lightning show, with no thunder...Toby appreciated no thunder as well, it usually makes him hide under the bed

The Drainage District where I live has these huge pump stations that handle that kind of rainfall, gets pumped into the ship channel, and eventually makes it was out into the Gulf...they are what saved my house from flooding during Harvey, and other storms...unfortunately, depending on where you live around here, even that is not enough to keep your home from flooding
Yeah, you are having some fantastic weather...we've got over a week coming up w/no rain forecast, but it's going to be hot, and humid...currently 91F here, 79% humidity...got the yard done early this morning, but I still sweated buckets
I don't even want to talk about "h" season...lol

Wow, Slap, my wife and I just read your post and we were talking about how catastrophic that sort of rain would be around here. Our vegetation, watercourses, etc. just can't do anything with that amount of water. On the other hand, I guess a week of -25f, or a month with no rain, would be a disaster where you live, and it's just par for the course around here. Different worlds!
It's been weirdly cool and damp around here. It's funny--we just got back from a 2-week trip to the NoCal redwoods area, and we've already had more rain back in dry Wyoming than we had the whole time out there in the rain forest. ha ha ha Good tree planting weather, but pretty stinkin' lousy for growing tomatoes!

It actually started Tuesday night, around 9 PM, and lasted until around 7 PM Wednesday, so about 22 hours...it wasn't a downpour at any point, just a steady, constant rain....sort of like Harvey was (shudders), but we had straight rain for a week during that hurricane...DD pumps just couldn't keep up, and they were unprepared for that amount of rain
Nederland, Texas is about a 10 minute drive from my house, my daughter lives there, I lived in a few rent houses there while in collge....check this out: https://www.expressnews.com/news/loc...h-12236335.php
And you are correct, a week of just below FREEZING temps around here is rare, but -25F??...seriously???...I would perish, lol
Sounds like a fun family trip you guys had, start a thread and post some pics!
