Just incredible. About how long would something like that take? Once the damage had started, can some of the "victim" coral still be saved?

@SueD hours to days, I'd imagine, depending on the size of the colonies. The video covers six days.

As for if they can come back, yes, they are very resilient. You can take a colony like that and use a band saw and cut it up into pieces consisting of just a couple of heads. Those small fragments (frags, for short) will grow and multiply into their own large colonies provided they have good parameters. Coral fragging and selling is not unlike trimming freshwater plants and selling the trimmings. Saltwater tanks are a bit of an investment. You put in a lot of money into the lighting and initial animals, but once the corals start growing out you can frag them and start making back what you spent on the tank.

Sorry, Boof. I pulled you to the dark side and got you addicted. Great job so far.
Think with logic and rationality more than emotion. Act with moderation and consideration. Contemplate ideals and realistic goals and weigh out possibilities and options. Temper not with personal delusions or false hope but learn to accept and move on.

Well, I fought it for five months. Every time we went to the reef shop, the wife and kid would gravitate towards the clowns. A week or two ago I finally gave in. I just hope he doesn't turn into a jerk. I've heard/read so many stories about clowns turning mean as they get older, which is one of the main reasons I was against getting one in the first place.

    Here is our clown, Pennywise.
