Hello friends! It has been a while since I held an aquarium journal here on AC. About two months ago, I went to a local auction and bought Montezuma Xiphophorus Helleri "Rio Caliente", Limia Perugiae, and Goodea Ameca Splendens. I was concerned for the aggression of the Ameca Splendens but there has not been any forms of nipping, torn fins, or fatalities from aggression. The female did have a brood of about ten fry two weeks ago. I plan to continue to watch for these signs but it seems like this could be a long-term solution.
As many of you know, I love livebearers! So why not do a livebearer only tank?! The main purpose of this tank is too look natural, not necessarily a biotope. I just want the tank to have a natural stream feel to it. I purchased an Innovative Marine 25 Gallon Lagoon tank and set it up on a granite countertop. It took about two days to get the aquascape exactly as I wanted it, then it was filled. A day later I added the magnolia leaves and plan to get a collection of different leaves here soon. Right now, there are some DIY LED lights on the aquarium but I plan to purchase a Current Satellite Pro soon. I've used this light a lot in my client's tanks and I really enjoy the weather effects which will add to the wild feel.
It is currently in full Bacteria Bloom! I have added ceramic rings from the holding tank and am adding Aqua-Vitro's "Remediation" daily. I am excited to see how this tank grows and looks over time. Here is a list of all current product used (I have no support from these companies I just wanted to list them in case there are any questions about where to find products )
    Innovative Marine 25 Gallon Lagoon
    Torpedo Beach Sand
    Spider Wood
    Magnolia Leaves
    Ken Black Water Extract

There are currently some goodea fry in the aquarium. I added them because I knew they had a lite bioload. I checked on ammonia today and it was 1, so I did a 50% water change. The fry seem more active than before. I think it is most likely because there's less tannins. The bacterial bloom has settled down dramatically as well.

Thanks! They're magnolia leaves. I'm going to be getting some more soon and hope to mix some other types in there as well.
