cichlid and corydoras
0
What are the possibilities of having a single decently sized cichlid in a 40 gallon breeder with only larger corydoras? Sand, driftwood, hides, leaf litter, basically a bottom level themed tank? the footprint is 36"x18". Not a fan of angel fish, and read that they need a tall tank anyhow. Gouramis (i know they arent cichlids) are kind of weird lol sorry to all you gourami fans. Corydoras would be in tank first.

a cichlid that gets no larger than 6" total length shouldnot be an issue, like an electric blue acara

Oh that one was at the top of my hopefuls list! I'm excited. Is it okay to have one alone? What about firemouth or convict, i think those are about 6 inch as well?

any one of those but not all in the same tank. Cichlids are territorial so it is best to stay at one

lol oh yeah I wouldn't push my luck and put more than one type in there, just figuring out all possibilities.

I brought it up at a pet store i was buying fish food at and the person was like acara? noooooo way, never! too aggressive. best luck would be with dwarf cichlids like GBR or badis badis. was kind of sad TBH, but I decided to ask on here.

stay away from german blue ram, too inbred... best to get bolivian rams.
acaras are not as aggressive as convicts
