Well I guess I should have started with a thread here. So Iím from Minneapolis and currently do Finnish carpentry. Been doing this for about 3 years and grew up in the construction industry. Iíve done aeroponics befor and have dabbled in many hobbies over the years. My dad has had tanks all my life and I finally got my own going.
My big tank is a 55 gallon or 45 Long itís kinda an odd size but it was cheap and doesnít leak.
    It has in it:
    5 Odessa barbs
    7 gold barbs
    5 Long fin cherry barbs
    5 juli Cory cats
    3 blue tetras
    3 green lantern platies
    2 orange and black platies
1 electric blue Acara 1.5 inches
    1 albino kribness 1 in
    1 female paradise fish
    1 3 spot gourmie
    1 bristle nose pleco
So I think it is a bit over stocked Iím planning on re homing the platies paradise fish and blue tetras. I think that would be a better stocking lv but my nitrates are around 10 to 15 so itís healthy.

    20 Long
    7 espei rasboras
    5 pencil fish
    5 pigmey Cory cats
    2 German Blue Rams
1 male paradise fish that is about to go
Lots of plants as well. Here is a pic as of 11/3/17
    A54C6D81-762F-4E64-A9BC-21082CE755D9.jpg

    10 gallon GFís tank
    1 glass cat
    1 marble hatchet fish
    5 ember Tetra
It got ick with the hatchet fish and that killed off 4 hatchet fish from the first day of ick treatment.

So there are my tanks. Iím thinking about a 30 but we will see how things pan out.

Thanks for the welcoming words. So I’ve had a busy week I’m up to 5 tanks and have 6 I just put in storage. I have been banned from setting up any more until we move in a couple years. I got a great deal on a fish store that closed so I couldn’t pass it up. Quick couple questions. Is it worth it to swap a 38 gallon to a 45 gallon for a mumba tank?? And can I keep platties in the tank I’m going to use for a quarantine tank? I assume I need something to keep the bacteria alive and can I have gravel in it

You want as large as you can get for Mbunas. They look best when they're healthy and chunky and to get them to that healthy weight, you want to have as much space as possible. As for the quarantine, I would recommend using ammonia from a hardware store or even adding some frozen food or flake to keep the bacteria going. This way, if you have to dose the tank with something heavy, your platies aren't constantly getting blasted with copper and other medications when they don't need it, which could lead to fatality.
