    OK. So maybe one angelfish with a school of rasboras or smaller tetras? As I said, my PH is 7.6 and from what I've read many tetras and other fish from this region do better in more acidic waters.

    To be honest the softness of the water and not the Ph plays a larger role in the health of most fish.

    Your live plants will grow out. (Anacharis will do so quickly)
    Regarding having a mix of live and artificial plants:
    I too have left 'favored' fake plants as shelter when rescaping or waiting for live plants to grow out. If it serves a purpose for your tank inhabitants, keep it in if you want.

    I keep a box of them around so I have something to invert into a small tank if I need to set up a quarantine tank or a hospital tank. They are handy to provide fast cover and can easily be cleaned in between uses. Mentioning in case you might toss any, in future.
