Alright, so with me having a 55 gallon tank, will 8 Giant Danios, 6 albino corie catfish, and 2 Cichlids be to many fish for that size tank? I am only planning on getting a Cichlid species that will get to max size of 6-10 inches. Should I get 2 males? 1 male 1 female? 2 Females?

What cichlid do you want to add?
When I go fishing I just throw sharp rocks in the water and wait for the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.

depends on the cichlid because having 2 can mean that one is picked on relentlessly by the other. Seeing that petco is your source, a firemouth would work or if you have the funds $20, an electric blue acara would work. I do not recomend having both unless you are willing to rehome the other when issues pop up.

Two or three angelfish would work. They do well in a wide range of water parameters.

Angelfish are beautiful. You might enjoy those immensely. If I had a tropical tank, I would keep angels.

Still, do read up on all of them so you can provide the healthiest environment possible.

I appreciate the insight, so 3 angelfish, 8 giant danios and 6 albino corie catfish would be ok for a 55G tank? Also I was reading that angelfish thrive in a lower PH environment and the PH in my tank is consistently 7.8 or so. Also I saw at the LFS that they need planted tanks..... is that the case? or would fake plants work fine?
