I scrub this piece of driftwood twice a week during water changes and it still keeps coming back. From how persistent it is and the color I am assuming BBA. Any guesses?

I think you're right. Those little black spots resemble what I get on my SS prefilter in my tank with BBA. Have you tried to put peroxide on it when you take it out of the tank to clean/ scrub?

Thanks that definately not what I wanted. I had only been scrubbing it but I bought peroxide just in case so I'll do it next time. I kept hoping it was some weird diatom or something because it was a new piece of wood.

Welp time to get out the flame thrower...

What is the best method for treating BBA with H2O2. I was thinking I could take the wood out of the tank and just dip my algae brush (a toothbrush) in the H2O2 and scrub it that way or just spray the area with a squeezy bottled? Or should I spot treat the area when it is still in the tank as long as the filter is off?

Unrelated note my tap water is currently blue and it is a very off-putting smell (we are under boil order but they say it is "safe" to drink). I have water pre-treated from last week when it was still clear but just enough for this water change so hopefully this clears up before next water change day.

Lots of people just squirt it directly on the BBA with a syringe while the DW is still submerged.

If you are pulling the DW out anyway-just spray or spot apply the H2O2 directly on the spots, you should see it fizz. Let it be for a few-15 min before putting it back in the tank. It should go reddish as the cells lyse (cells rupture due to H2O2).

My city is switching water companies they said the flushing should be down by Saturday but I am guessing closer to July.
