Has anyone here have experience with UV light to control green algae? According to the manufactures, this is the best thing since sliced bread. Kills green algae, bacteria, eliminates cloudy water. It's got to be great! LOL I guess my question is, if I install an UV light will I have to buy special food for my algae eating fish?
    Let me know.
    Tks

a uv light will only kill algae floating in the water, and not any algae on the tank walls or decoratons. If the flow is too fast, the uv light will not kill the bacteria floating in the water

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you know if the UV will destroy the good bacteria in my filter system?

over 90% of the good bacteria is in your canisters, so not is won't kill a majority of it unless it is flowing in the water.
