Now will just have to see how well the geophagus do with this aquascaping. When they are young it most likely will be fine, but as they get older I may need to remove some wood and/or rock. Thats okay, it needs to be practical and aesthetically pleasing.
Or, they may get in there and make a mess of all the plants and the whole human attempt to make it look pretty...
Either way, whatever will be will be...

    From Aquascaping to the fish:

So now that the 180 gallon is cycling with media from my other tanks-- on to considering fish.

    The Geophagus ( appx. 6)

The type I get depends on availability...
Right now Rapps of Tangled Up in Cichlids has some contenders I am considering.

On the top on the list is an extremely rare wild geophagus called g.proximus.

The second choice would be g.sveni. It appears this variety is more readily available, but still rare.

    Tetras (appx. 12)

I am considering going outside of the semi-biotope I was attempting to stay within and getting this rare beauty: phenacogrammus aurantiacus "Lamp-eye Congo Tetra."

    Altum Angels ( 6?)

    Any comments or suggestions?

You know I like phenacogrammus aurantiacus they might be worth the extra care that comes with keeping them, If you've kept discus you must be used to the extra care routine.

A nice school would certainly look awesome in your 180 ;-)

They had 12 a few days ago--- now they only have 7 :(
My tank is just not ready to add fish and I really dont want to put them in another tank with my other fish in case not healthy.
I will get the 7 if they are still there next week, but that wont make a very nice school.
I have seen some conflicting information on how big they get: from 2 inches to just under 4 inches.
    Do you know Lee?

No reason to rush stocking the tank...they'll come around again....if not, you've got SO many options with a tank that size
