    Hey guys,

I'm breeding Apple snails and would like to start raising them in their own aquarium. Question is, do they need a cycled setup? I only plan on having snails in the tank, so if I don't need to cycle it I'd rather not.

    Thanks!

Yes they need a very well cycled tank. More so then many fish species as they can be rather sensitive to poor water quality.
Do as I say. Not as I do.

    Thanks guys!

Since I don't plan on having fish in this tank, I guess a fishless cycle will be best. I've got another cycled aquarium, so I can steal some biological media from that tank to jumpstart this one.

The problem is, this is one of those TopFin internal filter tanks that doesn't have room for biological media, so I'll have to get creative.

Although they are pretty simplistic (in evolutionary terms), they are pretty sensitive to water quality.
