I'm very very much enjoying them. I thought about getting shrimp when I was first getting back to tanks after I moved a couple years ago. I eventually talked myself out of it... For almost a year then I couldn't NOT do it! No matter what I did in this tank I couldn't get rid of diatoms and gutting and rebuilding they kept coming back. So shrimp were hired against my better judgment and they are thriving and breeding and I'm very excited about having them. Actually will probably in the long run work on setting up a breeding system for them and sell them the presentable culls to my lfs while trying to keep my own line in excellent condition and possibly work on improving it slowly to some painted reds rather than just the Sakura reds. But all that's waaay down the line,at least a year anyhow :)

I know a forum that you could sell them to other shrimp keepers if you wanted to do that instead of the LFS.
I had some Blue carbons awhile ago but they died from a some fungus that came in on a plant.

Oh Lord! I am so shrimp disease ignorant.... I didn't even know they could get fungal infections. Obviously I need to get after learning more about it.

I live very very rural and in the high desert so our weather is generally one extreme or another and our lfs gets a few shrimp about twice a year. It's hard to ship in or out of here when it's live animals as the weather is so extreme.

Thanks Silbar! I'm hoping for the Glossostigma to at least survive and hopefully grow in nicely across the center and front left of the tank. Due to its light requirements I think it will prevent itself from getting too deep into the crypts along the back. The Riccia I am pretty confident I can keep going and hope that I can keep it from floating away. I tied it to stones in the calmest corner of the tank. If it gets unruly though I have other options for it and will have an excuse to completely splurge on some Fissidens Fox or Fissidens Fontanus. :)

You can usually tell if your shrimp has them. I was stupid and bought some Cambodia from PetSmart and it had stuff on it that infected the shrimp.

Came across this last night. Very interesting and informative and I don't want to lose it for my own reference later.

Caught a pic of a shrimplet after water change today. Not a great picture but I was just glad to catch it out in the open at all lol
