    Thanks for the reply. I've been traveling so this reply is late. I used purple Styrofoam. The kind used for insulation. I used Quickrete Hydraulic Cement, it's grey in color. Anyhow, when I got home I drained the tank a few times, added gravel, and drained several more times. I haven't seen any sign of the white grit???
    I have checked the pH and don't plan to move my fish until everything is good. I will most likely add some plants and paint the back of the aquarium.
