Started this last night but asked for it to be deleted because of a bad post from my phone. Ok with that bit of business out of the way!

So I promised myself that I would not start another journal until I had bought my first purchase for the project be it equipment, lumber, what have you. Alas I have purchased lumber that will be my stand for the 40 gallon breeder I will be putting together. I cant find the picture I took last night but this one will do. I'm doing it old school sorta.

So this morning I get up and start construction of the frame for the stand. Here is a pic of the 2x4's all sawn to length.

Here is the bottom and top frames going together.

Here are the horizontal supports going in.

at this point the frame is almost finished all it needs are the main vertical supports that support the weight of the aquarium. They go in between the top and bottom rectangles.

    Here is the frame completed.

This is a design from the King of DIY. from one of his video's a long time ago. I intend to put some sort of shell around it not sure if it will be plywood or something more fancy, I haven't made up my mind yet.

Very nice...only thing I would have advised is to wait to attach the top until the stand is in place; that way, you could be certain the top is perfectly level.

Thanks Sil. I enjoy working with wood, even though it is only 2x4's so far. I may wrap it with hardwood, sealed, of course.

Still got some sanding to do and I have to put my plywood top on top of the frame still. will make sure it is perfectly level once I am ready to do that. :)

You do know the top does not need plywood, correct?...but it won't hurt anything to add it

Yeah I know it doesn't "need" it just gonna add it for the sake of it.

I made it a little bigger than the actual tank by about half an inch.

As I stated in my other journal, I have set a weekly/bi-weekly budget for this project. The budget is different every week according to what we can spare for fish stuff at the time.

    This weeks budget was $50.
    7 2x4's
    3 boxes of wood screws
    = 42 bucks

Nice and slow, the pieces of the puzzle will come together quick enough...I find the "builds" just as fun as the finished product, personally

As do I Matt, I am lucky enough to be married to a fantastic woman that is letting me pursue a career I have always wanted to as a kid... a woodworker (furniture-maker). Also getting my degree in IT so I will have back up lol

But I do love to build.
