So yesterday after getting home from the LFS I discovered one of the neons dead on the bottom of the tank, and today I found an Odessa lying on it's side gasping. The Odessa was the same one that didn't look right the day after I bought him so it was no surprise. I did the humane thing and netted him out to stick him in the freezer.

Good thing is my LFS gives a 14 day guarantee so I'll be going back either tomorrow or Friday to get them replaced along with a few more Odessas as I'm back down to 4 of them.

I'm like a kid on Christmas Eve right now.... all of my stock is small so the tank looks bare. I keep trying to tell myself to wait on adding more fish until these grow out but the urge is getting stronger every day! LOL

If we haven't mentioned it already, try to buy stock that has been at your LFS for several days, if you can...ask them how long they've had them

Let them deal with weak/sick stock deaths instead of you, and get the hardy ones that have managed to stick around a while

Yeah I've read that before, drawback is my LFS is such a busy place that they get weekly shipments in every Tuesday. If I wait too long into the week they run out of certain stock. Good thing is they're great with their guarantee policy.

I'm going to call the owner today and let him know that I'll be in on Friday as I have my sons 5th grade Chicago trip Wed/Thurs.

You mentioned you accidentally got 2 honey gourami-they will be fine as they are social for the most part and in 100G if they are 2 males then they will have enough space for their territories.
Two 5.5g- Shrimp tanks; 1st with 4 chilis, green endlers & Bloody Mary shrimp and 2nd with blue star endlers and Blue Dream shrimp
Four-27 gallon tubs, 1st with my 2 BN plecos with their 2 generations of fry and 12 dwarf corys; 2nd has gouramis, rainbow fish, and female endlers; 3rd has (killer) albino corys, 1 pepper cory and 6 panda corys; 4th is 90% plants and one Diva-the pea puffer.

Yes, so far so good. They stay away from each other for the most part.

Congrats on the new stock! Sorry it didn't start out perfectly.

I really don't think those baby cichlids are GBRs. Any baby dwarf cichlid that size that I've seen look like miniature adults. Maybe it's a good thing, they are rather sensitive fish and would be better to add once the tank is mature in its makeover.

    Love your angelfish ;)

I picked up another Angelfish and a few more Neons. I went to pick up a few more Odessas but my LFS didn't get any in this week. Anywho, I decided to take a short 3m video of the tank just after feeding them, thus why there's so much floating around the tank. It was the only way to get the new Angelfish and Odessas to come out of hiding.

    Enjoy!

If anyone has any suggestions on what to add (if anything), I'm open for them. I don't know what % of stocking I'm at right now as I'm so use to having larger Africans. My LFS doesn't get alot of exotic/hard to find S/A's but I can always ask for a special order.

Tank looks very nice. I do have one concern, it appears you have two convict cichlid and 0 rams. Convicts can definitely be a little mean if I am correct.

I had a talk with the owner of my LFS about them. I expressed my concern and he said I could bring them back for a full refund/exchange. It's been a long time since I've had Convicts so I wasn't 100% sure that's what they were, but I believe you're right. He said he had problems with one of his distributors sending fish that are mis-marked or just plain wrong. He was on vacation when that batch came in and his workers didn't catch the mistake.

I just need to net them out tomorrow and return them before they grow any bigger and start targeting my other fish, namely the neons. He does have the Rams in now as I saw them in the store today.
