Jewel cichlids are territorial and highly aggressive when defending their territory and their young. Rams are small, peaceful and shy. The rainbow shark is itself a nippy species, though not as aggressive as the jewel cichlid. I would not recommend putting any of these fish together as it would inevitably result in at least one species getting bullied, likely to death.

Agreed. Jewel cichlids could work with your rainbow shark (provided there are enough hiding spots). They are not that aggressive and rainbow sharks are fast enough to get out of the way without any problems. South american Rams on the other side are to docile to be a good choice to be kept with either of the two species.

African rams, better know as thomasi cichlids might be a good option.
Do as I say. Not as I do.
