What kind of light do you have?
How big is the tank again?
Why not get a glass lid and LED light?

2-2 bulb t12 shop lights with plant bulbs
55 gallon tank
I like the look of an open tank but my fish possibly jumping out might end up having to get lids

T12's?
You can't even buy those anymore, w/out paying too much money for an obsolete bulb.
Look into glass lids, and an LED fixture
LED is the lighting of the present...runs cool, uses much less energy than fluorescent, and last for years, with no bulb replacement

I went with t12's because I couldn't find t8 plant bulbs in a 4ft length. Been looking at led figures but still trying to decide on which one to get.

You don't need plant light bulbs.

If you have multiple females they can tear each other apart. You'll never find a shred. I had a school that devoured a baby dat. They're definitely nasty
