Personally I am no plant expert at all. But one thing I have found out through trial and error is matching your plants with the lighting type. Something which take a bit of time and study to get perfect.
For me I have found various types of Amazon swords, Java Fern, and other types like it. Along with Anubis, Java moss, to be the easiest to start with.
Lighting wise not to strong a light is needed.
Next has been Rotalia and Red Pine, and Narrow leaf Hygrophilia.
Yes I am learning a lot about aquatic plants. Some I know from caring for them out of water, like Pothos.

I am being too modest. I have cared for many thousands of non-aquatic, tropical plants and trees in office buildings, airports, etc. I also enjoy gardening. So learning about caring for plants under water is so fun!

I thought you'd have lots of fish stuff there, but I guess it's not tropical :)

Yes, thank you. The place did look good, very clean, half the store is marine (a good sign) and half freshwater, and most of the fish gone (purchased), so that's a good sign too. He said he gets his fish orders in on Fridays. My plant order arrives tomorrow so I have to be home.

    Hey Jana,

No we are really a country which is 1st world then 2nd and 3rd all in one.

A country were people are very reclusive and reserved.

A country were people in the fish keeping world think that breeding a guppy is hard work!

Yes we do have a lot of stuff. And decent selection, government importation approved list is massive. But the shops refuse to order a massive amount of variants because they are ultra consevative.

At least in the marine department we have a decent selection. Just hard ware is ultra expensive.

For example a red sea reef tank of around 6k USD. Is around wel nzd. And it's not the currency rate that's doing. Just people sqeezing as much as they can, and wonder why things dnt sell fast.

Hence why I am thinking of moving to the USA in the next 5 years.

Hey, I grew up in Utah. We used to joke it was "behind the Zion curtain" (not sure if you'll get that). Salt Lake City is much more cosmopolitan now, but I joked that the reason I had to move to funky/hippy Santa Cruz Calif for ten years was to get over growing up in Utah. They are polar opposites, LOL. Of course, I enjoyed the incredibly amazing beauty of many parts of Utah, desert and high country, some of the wildest places in the continental US. I've also lived various other places in the US: Tucson, San Francisco, Mountain View, and the Catskills Mountains in New York State.

Do you have any idea where you would like to move to, if you decide?

Well, Seattle as you likely know is very progressive, with a diverse population. The constantly rainy coastal weather is probably something you've encountered in NZ.

Florida is mega humid. And there are several hurricane alerts every year. It is one part ex-patriate Cubans, one part Jewish retired seniors, and one part non-Jewish retired seniors. LOL.

Texas is huge. There are many different Texases. Austin is very progressive. The whole left half of Texas is like a 3rd world country. A lot more of Texas than you would think is humid. The people tend to be up front and conservative. I like them, they're colorful and down to earth. Everyone has at least one gun. Okay, only half of the people have at least one gun, LOL.

Here's a little road trip ditty about how large Texas is:

    The sun has riz'
    The sun has set
    And here we are
    In Texas yet
